BIOGRAPHY

S.E. Morgan has been an artist and art lover all of her life, encouraged at a young age by her grandfather, Neil Reyst, a successful commercial artist who lived in Grosse Pointe Michigan.  Born in Detroit in 1946, she is a baby boomer who was influenced SE Morgan by the political and social changes brought about during the turbulent sixties. Most of her work has social, political or personal commentary.

She studied Fine Art at Long Beach City College in Lakewood, California from 1974-77 then began a 15 year career of freelance sign, prop and set design while continuing to explore her art. In 1992 she relaunched her fine art career exhibiting in numerous juried competitions, group and solo shows. She has received several awards for her paintings, sculpture and photography - among them, the Millennium Cultural Recognition Award from the State of Florida in 2000. Her work is in private collections throughout the United States.

Currently, Sharon is an active member of the Cultural Council of Indian River County and serves as the Indian River County Art In Public Places Exhibition coordinator.  She has served on the Hibiscus Festival Committee for art & music event planning with Main Street Vero Beach supporting a revitalization effort for historic downtown.  In 2011, Sharon received the Artist's Leadership Laurel Award for her commitment to her art and service to fellow artists.

She is an arts advocate and owner of SE Morgan Design specializing in website design for visual, literary and performing artists as well as non-profit arts organizations and creative entrepreneurs.  She is the author of Indian River Art News - a monthly newsletter for visual artists along the Treasure Coast.
